PESHAWAR, Dec 19: The International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) organised a three-day seminar on war surgery for doctors and surgeons working in public-sector hospitals in the NWFP and Fata.
Over 30 doctors from the conflict-hit Swat district, Kurram agency, North Waziristan, Peshawar and other parts of the region attended the seminar, said an ICRC press release issued here on Wednesday.
Given the recent increase of violence in the NWFP, the health challenges threaten human life more than before.
The training was part of a series of theoretical and practical medical exercises for those who face blast’s victims or other weapon-wounded patients in their respective medical facilities of the region.
The seminar dealt with the areas of ballistics, war wounds, contingency and pre-planning in hospitals to deal with emergency influx, landmine injuries, amputations, physiotherapy and other vascular injuries.
