DADU, Dec 20: A large number of PPP activists of taluka Mehar staged a demonstration at Mehar bypass on Thursday to protest against the arrest of four PPP workers.

Led by PPP candidates for (NA-233) Talat Hussain Mahessar and Fayaz Ahmed Butt for (PS-77), the protesters blocked the road for about two hours and raised slogans against the SHO Mehar police station.

Talat Hussain, speaking on the occasion said that SHO Mehar had raided the houses of PPP workers and arrested Bashir Ahmed Mahessar, Shaukat Depar, Sikandar Mahessar and Amir Ali.He demanded immediate removal of the SHO from his post.

Later, the DSP Mehar, Humair Bhangwar, arrived at the police station and released all the arrested PPP workers.

Reports said that PPP and the PML-Q workers had exchanged hot words during election rallies and some PPP workers thrashed Ghous Ali Jatoi, the private secretary of PML-Q candidate at PS-77, Sadaqat Ali Jatoi, on Wednesday night. Following the incident, police arrested the PPP workers.

When contacted, Sadaqat Ali Jatoi said that he was unaware about the arrests. He claimed that the PML-Q rally was peaceful but the PPP candidates created the law and order situation.He said the PPP workers had thrashed their workers and he demanded action against them.

Meanwhile, PPP local leaders of union council Khan Jo Goth and Bali Shah, Gul Mohammad Solangi and Amir Ali protested against SHO Faridabad police station for removing party banners and flags from different parts in their area.
