NAWABSHAH, Dec 24: At least 178 polling stations in the district have been declared sensitive. Giving the break-up the District Police Officer of Nawabshah, Syed Ghayasuddin Rashidi, said that out of total 619 polling stations of the district, 78 were highly sensitive while 100 of them were sensitive.

He further said that nine polling stations were in the jurisdiction of A-section police station, two in B-section, five in Taluka, four in Jam Saheb, three in Gupchani, six in Daur, four in Bandhi, five in 60-miles, 11 in Sakrand, one in Mari Jalbani, one in Nasiri, nine in Qazi Ahmed, two in Bachalpur, ten in Doulatpur and six in Pubjo were declared highly sensitive.

He said that ten police personnel, including one non -gazetted officer, one HC, four PCs and four auxiliary, would be deployed at highly sensitive polling station while the number would reduce to eight and four respectively in sensitive and normal polling stations.

He further said that the total strength of Nawabshah police was 2,219 including 205 non-gazetted officers, 240 head constables, 1,454 constables and 320 auxiliary including Pakistan Qaumi Razakars while the district needed an additional strength of at least 2,368 to overcome the short fall.

To a question, he denied recruitment of any private force for election duties and said that no private force or retired police personnel were being hired for the job.

“We, however, have requested deployment of Rangers to meet the shortfall and expect a positive response,” he added.
