HYDERABAD, Dec 26: Tando Allahyar Taluka Nazim Khair Mohammad Khokhar said on Wednesday that holding of fair, free and transparent elections was the only way out from the present crisis and warned that if fair elections were not held, the country will face an even bigger crisis.
He was speaking at a seminar organised by Hyderabad Development Forum on “transparent elections are the dire need of the time”.
He said people have always been deceived in all the general elections and the truly elected people were kept out of power while selected people have ruled over the country.
He said this was the reason that Pakistan has always remained in the grip of crises. He said the devolution of power will remain a dream unless transparent elections are held.
Speaking on the occasion, PML-Q candidate for PS-50, Mir Sher Mohammad Talpur said that only those people had been voted to power in past, who were unable to resolve the basic problems of people and situation had reached such a stage that a common man even could not arrange two square meals for his family.
Mr Khokhar said it is the time that people should rise to the occasion and should not be deceived by hollow slogans.
He said people must be aware of the credentials and ability of all the candidates in the field.
The secretary Hyderabad Development Forum, Mohammad Ilyas Khokhar, said that the civil society has started playing its due role and waged relentless struggle for the independence of judiciary and against lawlessness and violation of fundamental human rights.
He said vote was a national trust, therefore, the people must exercise this right judiciously.
The others who spoke on the occasion included Mir Sobdar Khan Talpur, Mashooq Khoso, Akram Kaimkhani, Ali Hassan Channa and others.
