DADU, Dec 26: Tension gripped Dadu on Wednesday after the activists of PPP and PML-Q removed their rivals’ party flags in Poracha Mahessar village of Mehar Taluka, on Wednesday.

The incident occured when PPP candidate for NA-233, Talat Iqbal Hussain Mahessar visited Poracho village and activists of PPP and PML-Q indulged in flag removing spree leading to clash and harassment among villagers.

Mehar police on the complaint of PML-Q activist, Aijaz Mahessar registered an FIR against PPP President Mehar, Nazim Union Council Gahi Mahessar and 40 others for attack and aerial firing on PML-Q activists. Police conducted raids at various places to arrest the PPP activists nominated in the case. PPP activists staged demonstration against registration of FIR.

Talat Iqbal Hussain Mahessar said the SHO Mehar, Sibghatullah Mehar was creating problems in electioneering of PPP candidates and was registering fake cases against PPP activists.

He said there were many complaints against PML-Q activists but he did not register FIR against them. He said it was a matter of routine with PML-Q to register fake FIRs against PPP activists. He appealed to Chief Election Commissioner to take action against SHO Mehar Police Station.

However, PML-Q candidate on NA-233, Ehsan Ali Jatoi told reporters that PPP candidates were creating law and order situation in Mehar. He said it was routine of PPP candidates Talat Iqbal Hussain Mahessar and Fayaz Butt to fight with PML-Q activists.
