27 killed in Kurram Agency

PARACHINAR, Dec 27: Twenty-seven people were killed and 42 others were injured in fresh clashes between rival groups in the troubled Kurram Agency on Thursday.

According to local tribesmen, violence intensified after the arrival of a large number of militants from adjoining areas of North Waziristan and Hangu.

They said that missiles and rockets were being fired on Kharlachi and Borki villages from some areas in Afghanistan.

“The agency is under attack from all sides, including from Afghanistan.

We have been demanding that the authorities must expel outsiders from the area, but no action has been taken,” said Akbar Ali, an elder of the Turi tribe.
