MALAKAND, Dec 28: Ghaibana Nimaz-i-Janaza of slain PPP leader Benazir Bhutto was held in different towns amid tight security on Friday.

Workers of the PPP and people belonging to different walks of life and elected representatives attended the funeral prayer in Dargai.

They held a demonstration and public meeting in protest against the killing of the PPP leader.

They expressed deep sympathies with members of the bereaved families and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.

Ghaibana Nimaz-i-Janaza of the slain leader will be held at the Colony Ground in Sakhakot on Saturday.

Schools, banks and trading centres remained closed in Malakand on Friday.

Former PPP MPAs Syed Mohammad Ali Shah Baacha and Jehangir Khan termed the killing of Benazir a cowardly act and a conspiracy against the country.

They said the killing of the PPP leader had made the poor people of the country orphan. They said the country had lost a leader of great calibre and international repute.

In Chitral, Ghaibana Nimaz-i-Janaza was held at the Polo Ground which was attended by people from across the district.

Jamaat-i-Islami District Amir Maulana Sher Aziz led the funeral prayer.

The PPP and the MMA also held a joint protest rally and meeting to condemn the brutal killing of Benazir Bhutto.Leaders condemned the assassination of the former prime minister and demanded honest and thorough probe in the incident which deprived the country of a great leader.

The Malakand Trade Union on Friday announced a three-day mourning to pay respect to former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.—APP
