SANGHAR, Jan 2: Commendation certificates were distributed among those who helped the stranded passengers at Jalal Mari and Sarhari railway stations.
Colonel Maqsood of Indus Rangers gave away the certificates, awarded by the district government to Ismail Brohi and Yousuf Ali Shah for helping the passengers at Jalal Mari and to Jamil Ahmed for helping passengers at Sarhari.
The ceremony was held at DCO office on Wednesday.
Yousuf Shah, after receiving the award said this was a massage to all Pakistanis that we should not think on the ethnic lines as Sindhi, Punjabi, Pathan, Baloch or Mohajir. He said that we took care of over 1500 passengers for five days and also stood guard so that no one can harm the passengers at Jalal Mari which is presumed to be the hideout of dacoits such as Jaffar Keerio and Badal Keerio.
Ghulam Rasool Brohi, brother of Ismail Brohi, who had come to receive award on behalf of his brother (Ismail) said that passengers when leaving Jalal Mari had tears in their eyes and they were hugging us. He said several passengers told us that when they saw arms in our hands, they assumed that we (villagers) have come to loot them. But now they have became our life long friends.
