MARDAN, Jan 3: Local officials of the gas and power utilities met District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar and assured him that the problem of gas and electricity loadshedding would be resolved within three days.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, Mr Mayar said the officials had assured him of an end to loadshedding within three days.

He said the officials had told him that the massive loadshedding had been triggered by increased demand of power and gas in the winter season.

They said that due to protests and agitation the supply of fuel from Sindh had been stopped, forcing authorities to resort to loadshedding of gas and power in the NWFP.

Mr Mayar asked officials of both departments to resolve the problem immediately.

He also urged the officials to listen to the people because according to them the officials did not take much interest in resolving their problems.
