KOHAT, Jan 4: The Awami National Party (ANP) resumed electioneering here on Friday after a week-long lull due to Benazir Bhutto’s assassination.
The elders of the party — including a former MPA, Aurang-zeb Khan, its district president, Inayatullah Qureshi, and the candidates for NA-14 and PF-38 seats, Pir Dilawar Khan and Shahbaz Gul Shinwari — visited the residence of Gohar Saifullah Khan, the district nazim.
They tried to convince him to withdraw his support for independent candidates Malik Asad and Syed Qalb-i-Hassan and ask his tribesmen to vote for the ANP candidates, instead.
