HYDERABAD, Jan 6: The caretaker provincial ministers for zakat and ushr, and planning and development have said that police department faces a serious challenge to win back people’s confidence in the institution.

Sindh Minister for Zakat and Ushr Haji Irshad Memon and Sindh Minister for Planning and Development Syed Jalal Shah Jamote said at a meeting with the district administration of Matiari at the DCO office on Saturday that the onus was on the officers to work hard and with honesty to win people back.

They directed police officers to expedite efforts for getting back the robbed material from the criminals but made it clear that the caretaker government would not allow them to commit any excesses against innocent people during the probe.

They asked police officers to conduct impartial enquires against the criminals who had caused huge losses to the public and private property and urged them to remain extra vigilant in future.

They must deploy police force in and around main government installations and business centres whenever things took such a nasty turn.

The ministers directed the revenue officers to complete survey of losses and damages to public and private property so that the victims could be awarded compensation.

Earlier, Matiari District Nazim Syed Muhammad Ali Shah Jamote and DCO Muhammad Usman Chachar briefed the provincial ministers on the revenue officers’ efforts for collecting data on losses caused to public and private property.
