KARACHI, Jan 7: At least six Polish trade missions will visit Pakistan this year.

This was stated by the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Karachi, Ireneusz Makles.

In a statement here on Monday, he said that these delegations will also take part in the international fairs and exhibitions at the Karachi Expo centre.

He also announced that a high power mission of the Polish Chamber of Commerce will visit Karachi in March.

The Consul General said that Poland is keen to expand its economic and trade ties with Pakistan and cooperate in the fields of oil and gas, energy, infrastructure, maritime, engineering, food processing as well as development of SMEs.

He was of the view that Poland can supply electricity equipment including diesel generators, railway equipment, agriculture machinery and spare parts, heavy vehicles and marine and diesel engines.

Makles pointed out that the trade figures between the two countries during the last three years have shown an upward trend.

In 2006 the turnover in trade was to the tune of $110 million. Poland exported goods of $32.2 million and Pakistan of $75.5 million and the balance of trade was in favour of Pakistan. —APP
