KOHAT, Jan 7: Police and members of other law enforcement agencies have been put on high alert in the Kohat district after attacks on a storage facility of the Pakistan State Oil on Sunday night.
ASP Vaqas told Dawn that militants fired three rockets at the PSO depot from a close range which destroyed the whole stock of engine oil. Luckily, he said, the rockets missed the storage tanks of petrol and diesel otherwise it would have caused widespread damages.
Meanwhile, a person informed the Rescue 15 about some rockets planted near an air base in Dheri Banda. The rockets were attached to fuses. Officials of the police department and air force rushed to the site where bomb disposal squad defused the rockets.
The Russian made 107mm rockets had been planted during nighttime when security guards were inside their tents and quarters due to rainfall.
A case has been registered against unidentified people.
In another incident, militants blew up a house and a grocery shop in the College Town late on Sunday night.
