LARKANA, Jan 8: The faculty members, students and staff of the Chandka Medical College (CMC) described Pakistan People’s Party chairperson Benazir Bhutto’s assassination as a great national loss at a condolence meeting at the campus on Tuesday.
CMC Principal Prof Surgeon Sikandar Shaikh and Vice-Principal Dr Sikandar Mughal paid tribute to the great leader and said that the college itself was a gift from the founder of the PPP.
They said that the faculty and students hoped that the next PPP government would elevate the status of the college to a university after undertaking the much-needed development works at the campus.
The participants offered Ghaibana Namaz-i-Janaza for the departed soul before leaving for Naudero where they offered condolences to Faryal Talpur, Aftab Shaban Mirani, Shahid Bhutto, Safdar Abbasi and other party leaders.
Later, they paid a visit to Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto and offered fateha and laid a floral wreath on the grave of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
Sindh University
A meeting at the University of Sindh paid a rich tribute to former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and offered fateha for her on Tuesday, reports our Hyderabad bureau.
The vice-chancellor of the University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, on the occasion said that Benazir Bhutto was a great leader.
He was speaking to academic heads of different centres, institutes and departments on the reopening of the university. Fateha was offered for the departed soul on the occasion.
The vice-chancellor said that Benazir Bhutto had struggled for restoration of democracy. He said she was the hope of deprived people of this country.
The meeting expressed sorrow and grief over her death while paying rich tribute to her.
Mr Mazharul Haq also stressed upon the faculty members to teach and guide the future generations for the betterment of the society.
“We have a great responsibility to educate and train our youth,” he said.
The vice-chancellor said that youth is the most important section of any society and parents always looked towards teachers and academies for the proper education and guidance of their children.
