Zardari to speak on un petition today

LARKANA, Jan 9: A three-member team of lawyers in consultation with People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has finalised the draft of a petition which would be submitted to the United Nations seeking constitution of a commission to probe the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

The PPP sources said that Farooq H. Naik, Barrister Lateef Kohsa and K.K Agha are the members of the committee.

Talking to Dawn, Mr Naik said on Wednesday that the draft had been finalised.

He said Mr Asif Ali Zardari would announce the features of the petition in a press conference on Thursday afternoon at the Naudero House.

Meanwhile, Caretaker Sindh Minister Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi, son of Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) chief Pir Pagaro, and Khwaja Moeenuddain, the Sajjada Nasheen of the shrine of Khwaja Ghulam Fareed, and people from different walks of life met Asif Zardari and offered condolence to him over the death of Ms Benazir Bhutto.

A delegation of the Larkana chapter of the Pakistan Medical Association called on Mr Zardari in Naudero on Wednesday and expressed condolences with him over the death of Ms Benazir Bhutto.

The delegation visited Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto and offered Fateha on the graves of Ms Bhutto, her father and brothers.
