Injured Gillespie out of NZ squad

Published January 11, 2008

WELLINGTON, Jan 10: Seam bowler Mark Gillespie withdrew with a shoulder injury on Thursday from the New Zealand squad for the second Test against Bangladesh, starting at the Basin Reserve on Saturday.

Gillespie took three wickets in a domestic limited-overs match on Wednesday but left the field when he aggravated a shoulder injury sustained during New Zealand’s one-day series against Bangladesh.

No replacement has been named and it is likely current squad members Iain O’Brien and Michael Mason will vie for the third seamer’s role while Chris Martin and Kyle Mills will continue to take the new ball.—AP
