KARACHI, Jan 11: Revenue staff of the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) escorted by the local police on Friday got 300 acres of land vacated from the occupation of land mafia in Deh Halkani, Gadap Town, according to a CDGK statement issued on Friday.

It said that the government land was grabbed and illegal construction raised by the mafia. The city government’s revenue staff razed the illegal structures in a two-day operation, it added.

The city government plans to construct a university, a 50-bed hospital, a bus terminal, a spare-part factory for supplies to the Karachi Mass Transit, a driving institute and a CNG depot on the retrieved land. It said that the university, hospital and other public welfare institutions were meant for the people of Gadap, Keamari and Baldia towns.
