HYDERABAD, Jan 12: The registrar, University of Sindh, M. Saleh Rajar, announced on Saturday that talented students in various teaching institutes and departments needing financial assistance could apply for Students Loan Scheme re-launched by the government.

The notification was issued in pursuance of a letter received from the Regional office of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Larkana.

The NBP in its letter addressed to vice-chancellor of the university had informed that a Qarz-i-Hasna scheme had been re-launched for public sector universities and institutes in collaboration with the major commercial banks of Pakistan.

It said that Students Loan Scheme was aimed at extending financial help in shape of mark-up free loans to meritorious students without sufficient resources for pursuing scientific, technical and professional education within Pakistan.

The scheme is being administered by a high powered committee while the State Bank has assigned the NBP to operate and act as administrator of the scheme. The application forms for students are available at branches of National Bank including Sindh University Jamshoro branch.

The students of university of Sindh who desire financial help have been advised to obtain application forms from NBP branches including Jamshoro branch. The last date for submission of forms has been fixed at February 28, while details of loan scheme can be seen in advertisement that has already appeared in different dailies of December 16, 2007.

ANNUAL EXAMINATION: The Controller of Examinations University of Sindh has notified on Saturday that college side annual examinations 2007 of regular and external candidates would be conducted from January, 22, 2008.

According to notification, part-I examination of BA, BSc, BCom, BSW, BSc home economics MA previous of regular as well external candidates would start from January, 22.

It was further announced that part-II examination of BA, BSc, BCom, BSW, BSc home economics and MA final in different subjects would be conducted from February 1.

The University has dispatched schedule of examination as well as admit cards of students to all concerned colleges.

HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION: Hostel management of University of Sindh here on Friday notified list of students of fresh batch of 2008 for accommodation at boys’ hostels.

According to the announcement made by hostel provost (boys) the list has been displayed at notice board of the provost office.

Students have been directed to deposit hostel allotment fees for 2008, up to January 23.

The hostel management has also allotted accommodation for 2008 to students of 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th year already on roll and displayed list at the notice board of the office.

They have been advised to deposit hostel allotment fee for 2008 up to January 23.

FINAL MERIT LIST: Sindh University has notified final admission list of candidates selected in different disciplines in bachelors as well as masters degree programmes for academic session 2008, here on Friday. According to the announcement made by director admissions, the university has notified 3rd and final merit list of candidates selected for admission to bachelors degree programmes under quota oriented, general disciplines, female reserved seats and self-finance scheme.

The university has also notified second merit list of candidates selected for admission under bachelors and masters degree on reserved seats for the university employees and children of teachers of affiliated colleges and disabled persons.

Last date for payment of admission fee has been fixed as January 21.

The university has displayed lists of successful candidates at the notice board of administration building Jamshoro and Sindh University model school Hyderabad.

Candidates can also check their names at university's official website at www.usindh.edu.pk where all lists have been displayed.

Selected candidates have been advised to bring their original domicile certificates and PRC (form-C) and photocopies of the same at the time of payment of fees.

DATE EXTENDED: The director admissions, University of Sindh, here on Friday extended the last date to January 15, for admission to Postgraduate Diploma in Library, Information Science and Archive Studies (PGD-LIS) Computer Science, Information Technology and Public Administration under evening programme 2008.

Admission forms are available at HBL old campus Hyderabad and Jamshoro branches.

The director has also announced that last date for submission of admission forms and payment of admission fee for next higher classes for session 2008 has been fixed as Feb 11.

Students on roll in BA, BS, BS Commerce, BS (Public Administration), BBA, BFA, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and final professional Pharm-D as well as MA, MSc, M.Com, MBA and MPA (pass and honours) classes have been advised to fill admission forms obtainable from HBL Jamshoro branch.

GUL JEE REMEMBERED: A condolence meeting was held in the Institute of Art and Design University of Sindh on Saturday under chairmanship of Professor (Dr) Mohammad Ali Bhatti, director of the institute which paid a rich tribute to one of the prominent artists of the country Gul Jee on his death.

All faculty members and students who attended the condolence meeting appreciated the high calibre and artistic contribution of Gul Jee.

CLASSES: The Registrar of the University of Sindh has announced on Saturday that regular classes of Criminology are being held at the department of Criminology situated at Metharam Hostel Hyderabad.

MUET: The director admissions, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro, has announced second provisional merit and special list of students who have been selected for admission to various disciplines of bachelor of engineering, bachelor of architecture and bachelor of CRP. The university has further announced that the list has been displayed at the notice board of administration block of the university and at the website www.muet.edu.pk.

LUMHS: Controller of examinations, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro, here on Friday announced the result of first professional MBBS (part-I) annual examination 2008 of LUMHS, Chandka Medical College Larkana, Nawabshah Medical College for girls and Ghulam Mohammad Mahar medical college Sukkur held in the month of November 2007.
