BEIJING, Jan 13: A two-member delegation of the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) will be returning home on Monday after attending the two-day Beijing Olympics torch relay test held in the Henan Province of China.

The delegation comprised Treasurer, POA, Major Muhammad Afzal and Project Director of the Capital Development Authority Syed Muhammad Hasan Rizvi.

Talking to APP, Major Afzal highly praised the arrangements made by the Organising Committee of the Beijing Olympics for the torch relay that will pass through all the designated cities of the 22 countries of the world chosen by the Beijing Olympics Organising Committee of which Pakistan is one.

The demonstration involved a motorcycle-mounted police squad, other vehicles and the scouts and guides who would all be escorting the torch relay.

The torch bearer for Pakistan, Wen Fulin, who will arrive in Islamabad on April 16, was also introduced to the Pakistani delegation on the occasion.

The relay will be travelling to Mumbai, India, after a day-long stay in the federal capital.

Major Afzal pointed out that POA has chalked out elaborate arrangements to accord a befitting welcome to the torch bearers during their stay in Pakistan.—APP
