Missiles miss targets

GHALANAI, Jan 13: Militants fired six missiles on government installations in Ghalanai, the headquarters of Mohmand Agency, on Sunday.

However, the missiles missed their targets in the area, which houses the offices of the Mohmand Rifles’ Headquarters and other government departments.

Security forces retaliated with shelling and gunfire. A misfired shell hit a civilian’s house and left one person injured and several of his cattle dead in Ghazi Baig. The forces continued targeting militant positions for several hours.

Panic gripped the area due to the heavy shelling and hundreds of residents, particularly from Qandaharo and Baizo villages, were seen leaving their homes for safer places.

Meanwhile, the political administration in Lower Mohmand arrested eight people on charges of flour smuggling and impounded 10 vehicles and seized hundreds of flour bags.
