KARACHI, Jan 16: Police on Wednesday withdrew ‘additional security’ from outside the home of former acting chief justice Rana Bhagwandas.

Superintendent of Police, Clifton told Dawn that the authorities had enhanced security for the former judge in view of ‘intelligence reports’.

“He was never put under house arrest or taken into protective custody,” the police official said.

He claimed that the movement of the former Supreme Court judge had not been restricted.

A member of Mr Bhagwandas’s family said that police personnel posted outside his residence had been withdrawn. “Earlier his movement was restricted but now he is allowed to move freely,” she said.
