HYDERABAD, Jan 23: Final year students at the Institute of Information Technology (IIT), University of Sindh have developed software projects including multi-lingual online dictionary displayed in the exhibition on Wednesday.
Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh inaugurated the exhibition at Multimedia Centre of IIT.
Appreciating projects developed by students, she said these would go a long way in facilitating multinational companies and industries. Dr Sheikh said it was encouraging to see annual exhibition of such projects. She said the co-curricular activities alongside teaching will help them in their practical life.
Director IIT, Dr Imdad Ali Ismaili highlighting the importance of software projects said the IIT was offering BS degree program in Information Technology, BS Software Engineering, BS Electronics and BS Telecommunication.
He said software projects exhibition was institute’s annual tradition to promote skills of students. The exhibition was visited by teachers and students of IIT and other institutes and departments.
A group of four students who had developed a project on multi-language online dictionary with access to 150 languages told the pro vice-chancellor that the dictionary would help Internet users. They said users could benefit from it.
Students also displayed project on digital distance mero-meter, software of messaging in Sindhi language through mobile, online result compilation of semester examination, weather monitoring system, advertising display controlling by GSM.
Students also developed software project with the title web-based campuses management system to enter data of all departments and institutes, affiliated colleges and Sindh University Laar College Badin. They had developed a project to monitor attendance of students in class on daily basis and to monitor teaching by heads of institutes and departments in their offices.
