HYDERABAD, Jan 24: Caretaker Sindh minister for planning and development Jalal Shah Jamote has said that it was the primary responsibility of the caretaker regime that elections are held in transparent manner and people could exercise their right to vote in a peaceful atmosphere.

He said that the caretaker government would ensure that power should be transferred to majority party.

He was speaking at a gas supply scheme inauguration that was executed at a cost of Rs6.2 million in Mureed Soho village of Matiari district on Thursday.

He said in addition to its basic objective of holding free and fair elections the caretaker government was also trying to provide facilities to people of remote areas.

He said two gas schemes worth Rs6.2 million and Rs6.8 million in villages Mureed Soho and Bau Khan Pathan respectively had been inaugurated.

He rejected the charges of rigging being levelled by some political parties. He said he was a politician and believed in serving the people.

Matiari Taluka Nazim Azhar Shah Jamote, SSGC deputy general manager Ameerudin also spoke on the occasion.

Later, speaking to journalists the caretaker provincial minister said that President Pervez Musharraf and caretaker government wanted to hold elections as per schedule.

He said the police and Rangers were also performing their duties to maintain law and order.
