Muneeb in next round: Sindh Tennis

KARACHI, Feb 1: Upcoming Muneeb Khan overcame a stiff challenge from Omer Usman in three sets to reach the next round of juniors’ U-17 singles on the opening day of the Sindh Ranking Tennis Championship at DHA Sunset Club on Friday.

After conceding the opener 2-6, Muneeb bounced back to claim the next two sets 6-3, 6-2 to register victory.

Two other players, Basit Gabol and Mustafa Tariq, also progressed to next stage. The former eased to a 7-6, 6-2 win over Adil Tanoli while the latter made it through a walkover against Saad Yousuf.

The organisers have made a junior singles draw of 32–24 direct entries and eight qualifiers. Four players qualified for the main draw on the first day. They include Bilal Shariff, Ahmed Waqas, Zain Saeed and Qazi Zain.

Saturday’s fixtures:

Juniors’ u-17 singles qualifying rounds 9.00am; juniors’ u-17 singles main rounds 10.30am; boys’ u-15 singles qualifying rounds 11.30am.
