Rehman advances in Sindh Tennis

KARACHI, Feb 2: Top seed Abdul Rehman had an easy sailing over his opponent in the juniors’ U-17 singles first round fixture of the Open Sindh ranking tennis championship at DHA Sunset Club courts on Saturday. He conceded only four points in his 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Noorur Rehman.

Second seed Omer Shahid also marched to the second round in the same category, handing a straight 6-3, 6-0 defeat to Uzair Abdul Qadir.

Juniors’ U-17 singles (qualifying rounds): Ahmed Waqas bt Ali Muzaffar 8-6; Fraz Ahmed bt M. Ahmed 8-2; Mekael Zaidi w/o Moez Farooqi.

Main rounds: Talha Saeed bt Omer Farooq 6-1, 6-0; Omer Shahid bt Uzair Abdul Qadir 6-3, 6-0; Abdul Rehman bt Noorur Rehman 6-1, 6-3; Asadullah w/o Abdullah Gohar; Mustafa Zaidi bt Nameer Shamsi 2-6, 6-1, 3-0 (retd); Ali Zubair bt Azher Qureshi 6-4, 6-4; Rehmat Ali w/o Rehan.

Boys’ u-15 singles (qualifying rounds): Hamza Tanveer bt Jahangir Khan 8-3; Sahib Alvi w/o Hasan Rafi.

Sunday’s fixtures:

Boys’ u-15 singles first round 9.00am; juniors’ u-17 singles first round 11.30am; men’s singles qualifying rounds 1.00pm.
