Not all housing societies are fake

ISLAMABAD, Feb 4: Where dozens of private housing societies are allegedly looting innocent people on the pretext of making their dreams of owning a house a reality, some of the societies are working sincerely to make these schemes successful endeavours, sources in the Capital Development Authority (CDA) said.

The sources said about 48 cooperatives and private housing societies had been registered with local authorities but only 12 had got no-objection certificates after meeting all requirements.

It has been learnt that the CDA had issued NOCs to some of the societies despite the fact they had not fulfilled the requirement and now these cases are being reviewed by the CDA and by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and few NOCs have been cancelled on different grounds. Soan Garden Housing Scheme in Zone-V and Islamabad Garden Housing Scheme in Zone-II are among those whose NOCs have been cancelled.

Multi-Professional Cooperative Housing Society (MPCHS) is one of those schemes which are abiding by the laws of concerned authorities, and has become the only cooperative/private housing society which have obtained NOCs for its all three housing projects.

In a fresh decision, the CDA issued NOCs to MPCHS for its two housing schemes being developed in Sector F-17 and A-17/B17/B18 (near Turnol) along the GT Road. One of its schemes has already been developed at Sector E-11.

According to the NOCs, the MPCHS’ housing scheme in A-17/B-17 and B-18 - Multi Gardens - is being developed on 7,672 acres in Zone-II and it will provide about 4,670 plots.
