LARKANA, Feb 7: Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, the chief of the Sindh National Front, organised Quran Khawani in Mirpur Bhutto village on Thursday to observe the Chehlum of Benazir Bhutto.

A large number of people from different walks of life attended the Fateha.

Talking to journalists, Mumtaz Bhutto spelt out four ingredients of a politician - personality, character, vision and ability which he said Asif Zardari lacks. He foresaw this gap in PPP in future and said he had not met Ms Sanam Bhutto recently.

He said Chehlum was a religious and solemn event being observed with religious fervour.

“We have not made Chehlum a political fun and neither a source to seek vote,” he said.

“Benazir Bhutto’s martyrdom will be remembered forever”.

He complained of being “kept in the dark” regarding the investigation being carried out into the assassination of Ms Bhutto. Calling Ms Bhutto a member of his family, he said “we would be a party in the case”.

“We are trying to contact the Scotland Yard investigation team.”

Mumtaz Bhutto called upon the government to remove his ‘doubts’ and ‘apprehensions’ about the assassination. He said he had written a letter to President Pervez Musharraf, to take him into confidence about his misgivings.

“If needed I will release the letter to the media.”

Regarding the ‘will’ of Ms Benazir Bhutto, he said it was the PPP’s concern to determine whether it was “true or not”.

Ghinwa Bhutto, chairperson, PPP-SB, Ghous Bakhsh Mahar, Sardar Himath Kamariyo, Zulfikar Kamariyo, Syed Taj Muhammed Amroti and Pir Abdul Khalique Bharchoondi, attended the Quran Khawani.
