Nasir storms into ranking tennis final

KARACHI, Feb 9: Third seed and pre-favourite Nasir Mushtaq took little time in disposing-off unseeded Mohammad Abdul Saeed to cruise into the men’s singles final of the Open Sindh ranking tennis championship at the DHA Sunset court on Saturday.

The junior international who romped home 6-2, 6-0 now faces unseeded Mohammad Naseem who got the better of Shamael Tajammul 6-1, 6-2 in the other pre-final.

Mustafa Zaidi edged Omer Usman 7-6, 6-1 to join Nameer Shamsi in the boys U-15 singles last four.

Men’s singles semi-finals: Nasir Mushtaq bt Mohammad Abdul Saeed 6-2, 6-0; Mohammad Naseem bt Shamael Tajammul 6-1, 6-2.

Juniors U-17 singles pre quarter-finals: Bilal Sheriff bt Ali Zubair 6-1, 6-1.

Quarter-finals: Mustafa Tariq bt Abdul Basit 6-2, 6-3.

Boys U-15 singles pre quarter-finals: Yayha Essa bt Nasrullah 6-2, 6-3.

Quarter-finals: Mustafa Zaidi bt Omer usman 7-6, 6-1.

Boys U-13 singles quarter-finals (pro-set): Shahzaib bt Arsalan Allawala 8-5; Khwaja Hamza bt Ahmed Majeed 8-1.

Girls U-17 singles semi-finals (pro-set): Uzma Zakaria bt Ruqaia Bengali 8-2.

Boys U-9 singles (pro-set): Ali Mooraj bt Raza Sawani 8-2.—Sports Correspondent
