HYDERABAD, Feb 13: The district council has called for United Nations-sponsored investigation into the assassination of Pakistan People’s Party chairperson Ms Benazir Bhutto and described her death as a national tragedy.

The session was requisitioned for approval of two schemes of Citizen Community Board (CCB). At the outset of proceedings Haq Parast Member Ghulam Rasool Samoon condemned the killing of Benazir Bhutto. The session then offered fateha after a motion jointly moved by Awam Dost Panel’s Yamin Soomro, Mehboob Abro, Zahida Memon, Abdullah Shoro and Hussain Bux Hussaini.

Abro and Soomro wanted to move a resolution soon after recitation of the holy Quran and Naat. They demanded the resolution should be taken first. Convener informed the members that it was a requisitioned session to accord approval to official business regarding two CCB schemes.

However, when another Haq Parast member Rashid Khan and others urged the chair to relax rules and the chair took up the out of agenda resolution. He ordered relaxation of rules of business accordingly.Later, an official of Community Development Department read out a scheme for the installation of additional transformer in Ali Nagar locality of Qasimabad. The chair referred the schemes to members for approval.—Bureau
