Five drowning people rescued

KHANEWAL, Feb 13: Two divers on Wednesday evening saved five people, including two children and three women, who fell down in the Ravi while proceeding towards Ghauspur Qureshian village in a boat in Kachlabha area of Tulamba town, about 56km away from here.

Reports said seven people namely Asad Abbas, Samrina, Zainab, Naseem, Azan Abbas, 4, Nigah Husain, 2, and boatman Manzoor Husain were passing through Ravi. As the boat was overloaded, it overturned. Boatman Manzoor and Asad Abbas, the divers, recovered the victims from water. Later, the locals took them to Tulamba town hospital from where they were discharged after medical treatment.

ACCIDENTS: Two people were killed in separate incidents here on Wednesday in Abdul Hakim police precincts.

Reports said Nasrullah, 20, who was standing at the door of Pakistan Express, struck with a pole near Jan Muhammadwala railway station. He died on way to hospital. In another incident, Abid Munir was killed in a collision between a motorbike and a motorcycle-rickshaw.

Reports said Abid along with his friend Abdul Manan was going to his sister’s home on his bike when the two-wheeler struck against a speeding motorcycle-rickshaw, killing him on the spot.
