ABBOTTABAD, Feb 14: Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has termed the February 18 general election a referendum, adding that if the ‘Chaudhry League’ lost the polls, Pervez Musharraf will have no moral justification to remain in power.

Speaking at a public meeting at the Abbottabad Government College on Thursday, he said his party would not accept Pervez Musharraf as president or carry out his ‘illegal’ orders if it came into power.

Mr Sharif said if the people wanted reinstatement of deposed judges, they should vote for PML-N candidates. He said his party candidates had taken oath to work for restoration of the deposed judges.

He asked political leaders to get united against Pervez Musharraf, saying his wrong polices had pushed the country into crisis.

He said lawlessness was rampant and terrorism had found its roots in the country. The situation, he said, could not be controlled till Pervez Musharraf was in power.

The PML-N leader said prices of essential items had increased manifold and were beyond the reach of the common man.

“Everyone is feeling insecure,” he said, adding: “Musharraf is a great security risk and it will be better to through him out of the power as soon as possible.”

About the PML-Q election campaign, he said supporters of Pervez Musharraf had lost creditability. To save their skin, he said, Q-League candidates were campaigning sans pictures and posters of their party leaders.
