EU poll observers meet PPP leader

SANGHAR, Feb 24: A group of election observers of the European Union met here on Sunday a district returning officer and PPP leaders and collected information about the Feb 18 elections.

In the absence of the People’s Party candidate for NA-234 seat, Gul Junejo, PPP taluka president Syed Mumtaz Shah, met the observers and briefed them on what he termed rigging in the constituency.

PROTEST: Activists of the Children’s Rights Committee held a demonstration for the second day here on Sunday to protest against ruthless thrashing of a schoolboy by the headmaster of a primary school.

It has been alleged that the headmaster beat the class-III student, Ayaz Mangrio, unconscious.

The boy was admitted to the Civil Hospital in Sanghar.

The protesters demanded legal action against the headmaster.

ROBBERY: The owner of a fish farm was robbed of Rs35,000 cash and cellphone near Sanghar on Saturday night.The man was attacked with axes and he was severely injured.

A case has been lodged at the Mangli police station.
