KARACHI, Feb 27: The 5th edition of the National Junior Under-21 Snooker Championship will be held here at the Snooker Zone Club, Tariq Road, from March 3 to 8 after a lapse of 11 years.
Twenty four cueists from Punjab, NWFP, Balochistan and hosts Sindh will be featuring in the six-day competition.
The event was last held in Rawalpindi in 1996 and a private Insurance firm will be sponsoring the upcoming championship carrying Rs90,000 in prize money, Joint Secretary Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) Arif Taherbhoy said.
The winner of the championship will be earning the right to represent Pakistan in Asian Under-21 Snooker Championship scheduled to be held at Yangoon (Myanmar) from April 5 to 12.
Besides earning a ticket for Yangoon Asian junior championship, the winner will get Rs30,000 in prize money while the runner-up will pick Rs20,000 and the losing semi-finalist Rs10,000 each.
PBSA President Asghar Valika alongwith sponsor’s representatives is holding a press conference at the Karachi Club on Saturday to unveil comprehensive details of the competition.—APP
