HYDERABAD, Feb 28: The employees of Sindh Agriculture University observed token hunger strike outside the Tandojam Press Club on Thursday against granting extension to the SAU vice-chancellor. The provincial Governor and chancellor of universities of Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan granted extension of four years to Basheer Ahmed Shaikh, Vice-Chancellor Sindh Agriculture University. He had been given extension up to March 20, 2011.

Leaders of the University Employees Action Committee, Hussain Bux Veesar and Karam Punhoon had alleged the VC of running the university as “Shaikh and Sons” enterprise which had destroyed the place of learning.

They announced of observing hunger strike inside the varsity premises on March 4 with the launching of a protest movement against him.

APPOINTED: The Sindh Governor has appointed Prof Ahmed Ali Shaikh as Dean, Faculty of Law University of Sindh for a period of three years.

The notification was issued by the Registrar Sindh University here on Thursday.

LIBRARY: The incharge librarian of Allama I.I. Kazi Central Library, University of Sindh, had notified re-opening of various sections of the library after necessary repair work. The library had been re-opened for students and public.
