KARACHI, March 3: As a part of PIA’s reorganisational plan, the airline’s newly appointed managing director Aslam R. Khan has ordered ‘first phase transfers’.

Accordingly, deputy managing director Umer Ghafoor has been posted as DMD special projects.

The commercial and sales departments have been merged as the marketing department to be headed by senior vice-president Salahuddin.

Mahmood Ahmed, special assistant (external) to the chairman, has been appointed general manager Speedex in place of Imran Aslam who will henceforth hold the post of general manager cargo.

In a general note to PIA’s employees, Mr Aslam Khan said the organisational changes were a first step focused on optimising the team and improving the airline’s efficiency. “The objective is to have the best resources focused on the most needed core competencies.”
