HYDERABAD, March 14: Sindh National Front (SNF) urged the PPP to reject Kalabagh Dam project and ensure judicious distribution of water among the provinces and resources on the internationally recognized principle of - the province which earns more should get more. It also demanded release of Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Dr Safdar Sarki and other political prisoners.

A meeting of the Central Committee of the SNF was held on Friday under the Chairmanship of Mumtaz Ali Bhutto which discussed post-election scenario. The proceedings began by offering Fateha for the departed soul of Benazir Bhutto.

The meeting said the SNF respected mandate given to political parties by the people and said if the new government failed to come up to expectations the SNF will not remain a spectator.

It said while people of Balochistan, Punjab and the NWFP voted for nationalist leaders, people of Sindh again voted for those involved in corruption, murders and other heinous crimes who extricated themselves from criminal cases by entering into deals.

It expressed sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives in Lahore bomb blasts and held government responsible for incidents of violence that took place during last seven and half years.

It said PPP leaders did not waste a moment to get rid of their cases but were oblivious of lawlessness, unemployment, price hike, poverty, corruption and other problems confronting the masses.

The meeting regretted PPP leaders of exploiting assassination of Benazir Bhutto by securing votes but forgot to bring her assassins to book as their only interest was in ministries. It demanded investigation in her case to be entrusted to international experts.

It reminded the PPP of remaining in power twice and being dismissed for bad governance. It expressed scepticism of the success of PPP government for the third time, especially in the absence of Benazir Bhutto.

It said Syed Qaim Ali Shah failed to run the affairs of the Sindh government as Chief Minister in the past and feared the same for now the province was facing multiple problems.

The meeting appointed Ayoub Shar as new Secretary General of the party and Syed Hassan Mehmood Shah Amroti as Central Deputy Secretary General Information.
