HYDERABAD, March 20: The University of Sindh has decided to establish Directorate of Distance Education to facilitate private candidates unable to enrol as regular students at graduate and post-graduate level.
The meeting appointed two-member committee comprising Dean Faculty of Education and Controller Examinations to formulate modalities for its establishment.
The focus of varsity through new setup will be to improve education quality with better success ratio for those appearing as external candidates. Its main function is to impart education to private candidates these they’ll be termed ‘distance students.’
The meeting approved PC-I which will be submitted to Higher Education Commission (HEC). Students planning to appear as external candidates at graduation and masters’ level would be registered as distance students.
The HEC had accorded approval to establish Directorate of Distance Education at six public sector universities to improve education quality.
TALK: Senior Research Fellow at Brunel University London Dr Syed Ghulam Sarwar has urged scholars to conduct research on key social issues for providing relief to their communities.
He was delivering a talk on “Writing collaborative publications for international journals” organized by the Institute of Information and Communication Technology at the Sindh University on Wednesday.
He said collecting and utilizing primary data was an art and publication of research work in journals of international repute was no less important.
He said it was essential that scholars should send their articles to research journals as in universities the research conducted by a group of scholars fits the international criteria.
