Talented Hamza in tennis quarters

KARACHI, March 20: Upcoming Hamza Saeed sneaked into boys U-15 singles quarter-

finals with a hard fought three-set victory over Shehryar Ahmed in the third Sindh ranking tennis tournament at the Beach View Club on Thursday.

Hamza who dropped the opener 1-6 recovered to claim the next two sets 7-5, 6-4 to make it to the last eight.

Sameer Tariq and Abdul Rehman also joined Hamza in quarters. The former got a walkover against Shahzaib Nasir while the latter beat Naved Abbas 6-1, 6-0.

There will be no matches on Friday in view of 12th Rabiul Awal.

Results:

Juniors U-17 singles pre quarter-final: Nameer Shamsi bt Qazi Zain 6-1, 6-4.

Quarter-final: Syed Zuhair Raza bt Abdul Basit Gabol 6-2, 6-3.

Boys U-15 singles pre quarter-final: Hamza Saeed bt Shehryar Ahmed 1-6, 7-5, 6-4; Sameer Tariq w/o Shahzaib Nasir; Abdul Rehman bt Naved Abbas 6-1, 6-0.
