SANGHAR, April 20: About 70 kilometres long gas pipeline has been laid to provide gas to different villages in Sindh and till 30th June gas would be provided to Ghundan, Sher Dil Magsi and Palh villages in Sanghar district.

Survey of about 40 villages in Sanghar circle has been carried out on the proposals of taluka and UC Nazims.

This was disclosed by Shoukat Hussain Zardari, general manager for Sindh Balochistan, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited, while talking to Dawn here on Friday.

The general manager had come here to attend an open kutchehry to listen to the grievances of gas consumers.

A large number of people attended the kutchehry. He issued orders on some applications to redress the grievances.

Mr Zardari said the criterion for providing gas to a village was based on the census of 1981 and the projected formula was 3.6 per cent per year. Six persons were presumed to be a house, he added.

If the cost of the project comes to Rs20,000 per house in a village, it is considered feasible and gas is provided to that village.

The villagers from Chak Nos. 6, 7, 8, 1, 2, who also attended the meeting, said there were about 710 houses in their village and the total cost was estimated about Rs13 million and if divided by 710 houses it came to less than Rs20,000 per house, so gas should be provided to the village.

The general manager promised to study the case and in due course of time gas would be provided, he added.

The general manager was accompanied by Regional Manager Ameeruddin Siddique, Abdul Aziz Bhurgari, chief manager sales and other officials of the company.

So far 100000 connections have been provided to Sanghar, excluding Shahdadpur and Tando Adam.

SHO SUSPENDED: The Station House Officer, Jhol police, Tassawur Hussain Jutt, has been suspended by DPO Ghulam Qadir Thebo for his failure to control crime.
