RAWALPINDI, April 7: A Utility Store Corporation employee was shot dead by robbers, while a security guard of a gas filling station was shot and injured on Monday.

Police said two persons entered the utility store located at Range road, Westridge, posing themselves as customers. However, soon after entering the store they pulled out their pistols and held the employees at gunpoint.

The robbers snatched Rs52,000 from the store manager and tried to escape. However, when one of the employees identified as Mohammad Ali, 22, tried to overpower them, they shot him dead and fled.

In the second incident, three robbers snatched Rs45,000 from a security guard of Khan Badshah petrol station in Westridge area after injuring him.

Qasim Khan told the police that he along with his colleague was going to a bank branch to deposit the cash when the robbers travelling in a car intercepted them.

The robbers opened fire and injured him when he refused to give up the cash. Later, they snatched the cash and sped away.

Shaukat Ali complained to the City police that two motorcycle riders came to his shop located near Liaquat Bagh and held him at gunpoint.

The robbers snatched Rs2,000 cash and phone cards valuing Rs20,000 along with five cellphone sets and escaped.
