Court orders arrest of SHO

RAWALPINDI, April 9: An additional sessions judge here on Wednesday issued arrest warrants of a station house officer for not appearing in the court despite repeated calls in a petition seeking registration of a criminal case against alleged swindlers.

ASJ Rana Muhammad Ali in his order directed City Police Officer (CPO) to arrest SHO Airport Police Station and make sure his presence in the court on April 16 the next hearing date. The judge also directed police accounts officer to attach the salary of the police officer.

The court had repeatedly directed the SHO to submit his written comments in response to a petition filed by Nisar Ahmed who sought registration of a criminal case against the people who extorted money from him on the pretext of selling a piece of land. The SHO had not only failed to submit his comments but also never appeared in the court despite a show-cause notice served on him.

The petitioner alleged that he approached the Airport police for the registration of a fraud case against Chaudhry Bashir whom he paid Rs600,000 as advance money to purchase a piece of land some nine months ago but never abide by the written agreement. Whenever in contacted him I got no response about the sale of the land or the return of the money but I was only told that the land belonged to an influential family and could not be given to him, he contended.

He said in his petition that the police had not been registering the case and prayed to the court that the police should be directed to register the case.

Meanwhile, another ASJ served show-cause notice on SHO Civil Lines police for not submitting his comments in reply to a petition filed by a woman seeking registration of a criminal case against her husband who allegedly snatched her son with the help of his friends.

ASJ Rana Masood Akhtar issued the notice to the SHO for his failure in submitting his comments in the petition of Sehrish Bibi who alleged that the Civil Lines police had not been entertaining her compliant seeking a criminal case against her husband Mushtaq Ahmed who picked up her son Hamza from the house of her brother.

She alleged that he broke with her husband over a domestic issue and moved to the house of her brother with her son. She said three men on the behest of Mushtaq raided the house and took away Hamza forcibly.
