HYDERABAD, April 11: The acting president of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) and chief of Millat-i-Jaffria, Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi, stressed on Friday that Qazi Hussain Ahmed, amir of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), still headed the alliance.
Talking to journalists at Qadam Gah-i-Maula Ali, the Allama urged the new government to solve core issues, including price hike, unemployment and lawlessness, on a priority basis and provide relief to the common man.
He said that even after the new cabinet had been put in place the main issues including restoration of judges remained to be resolved but stressed that everyone should obey the parliament’s decision on judges as well as the president’s impeachment if parliament decided to include it in its agenda.
He urged the government to expose hidden hands behind violence in Karachi and demanded abolition of the National Security Council.
The government should provide facilities to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, he said.
He claimed that some elements were trying to revive the Sunni-Shia issue, which he said had died after the formation of the MMA. No incident of sectarianism had taken place in the country since the alliance’s formation, he said.—PPI
