PESHAWAR, April 12: Pakistani and Afghan academia stressed the need of active academic interaction and exchange of expertise in various fields of knowledge for strengthening the universities of the two countries.

A ten-member Afghan universities teachers’ delegation visited Area Study Centre for Russia, China and Central Asia at the University of Peshawar on Saturday. Konrad Adenauer Stiftung of Germany facilitated the visit, said a press release issued here on Saturday.

Senior teachers from various Afghan universities including Dr Noor Ebad, Professor Mir Ghulam Usman Bariz Hussain, Dr Zabihullah Modaser Taj, Dr Hazrat Mir Tota Khel, Dr Amanullah Hamidzai, Professor Alakozai Mokamel and Professor Abdul Malik Halimi mainly focused on a kind of ‘disinformation’ and ‘misinformation’ phenomenon, which, according to them was mainly responsible for creating differences between the two states on different issues.

They fully defended the presence of US-led Nato and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) on Afghanistan’s soil.

They were of the view that in such situation when Afghans was slaughtering Afghans, the forces with the UN mandate were playing a very constructive and positive role for their country’s well being.
