OKARA, April 12: The Christian youth, who was murdered reportedly by some unidentified assailants late on Thursday night, was buried at Chak 10/4-L amid voices of resentment against the rival group of the Anjuman-i-Mozareen Punjab (AMP) on Saturday.
Younis Iqbal Masih, the leader of his own AMP faction, while addressing after the burial of Javed demanded that all the 19 accused nominated in the FIR, including AMP secretary-general Mehr Abdul Sattar, be arrested immediately.
He alleged that the rival AMP group was targeting the Christian community for casting votes against its leader in the last general election.
Meanwhile, Mehr Abdul Sattar said that a conspiracy had been hatched against him by implicating his group in the murder case. He said the nomination of 19 people of his group in the FIR would only aggravate tension among tenants of all military farm villages.
He said we would not seek pre-arrest bail and instead appear before the police investigation officer to prove our innocence.
DSP Malik Muhammad Hussain said the merit would be the yardstick of investigation into the murder case. He said all police stations concerned were alerted to meet any eventuality.
It is learnt that law enforcers in plainclothes have been deputed in military farm villages to avoid any untoward incident.
SEALED: The godown of a flour mills was sealed after a raiding team recovered 3,000 wheat bags stored there unlawfully on Saturday.
Reports said that DCO Tariq Javid Afridi along with DOR (revenue) Osman Moazzam raided the godown of Ravi Flour Mills on a tip-off and took into custody the wheat bags. After sealing the godown, the DCO bounded the flour mills to keep a complete record of the wheat and furnish the data to the administration regarding flour supply to the market.
TWO KILLED: Two students were killed and another two persons sustained serious injuries in separate road accidents in the district on Saturday.
Reports said that two brothers Shahbaz and Fayyaz of Kot Bhattian village were returning from school when a speeding wagon hit them. The former died on the spot while the latter sustained serious injuries. He was admitted to a local hospital.
A speeding car hit the motorcycle of Ali Sher and Yasin of Yassokay village (Deepalpur). Resultantly, Ali Sher died instantly while Yasin suffered critical wounds. He was rushed to a hospital where his condition was stated to be serious. — Correspondent
