KARACHI, April 13: A presentation of acclaimed dramatist Agha Hashr’s Sufaid Khoon, an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s King Lear, will be the maiden production of the National Academy of Performing Arts’ (Napa) Repertory Theatre, says a press release.

While the maiden performance will be staged on April 23 at 8pm at the Arts Council auditorium, the production will run till May 4.

According to the press release, Zia Mohyeddin, the Chairman of Napa, will produce and direct the play, while it has been designed by Shahbaz Chaudhry. It will feature veteran TV and stage artiste Talat Hussain in the lead role.

“The primary aim of the Napa Repertory Theatre is to promote an appreciation for professional theatre in all its manifestations.

By staging plays regularly, the company hopes not only to develop a theatre-going habit among the local populace but also to motivate writers to turn their attention to writing exclusively for the stage and to creating drama that reflects the complexities of life and the society in which we live,” says Rahat Kazmi, the Artistic Director of the theatre, in the press release.
