MULTAN, April 15: An Italian firm — ECS — in collaboration with the City District Government Multan (CDG-M) will hold a permanent exhibition of modern agriculture machinery here.

This was stated by Pak-Italy Chamber of Commerce president Ettare Marzocchi during his meeting with district nazim Mian Faisal Mukhtar here on Tuesday.

Mr Marzocchi said the ECS would introduce a disease-resisted hyper cotton seed to increase per acre yield.

He said according to a memorandum of understanding signed with the district government, new irrigation methods would be introduced.

He said milk, citrus and mango processing units would be installed along with establishment of cash and carry stores of Metro in Multan. He said Pakistani mango would be introduced at Metro stores all over the world.

Mr Marzocchi said the district government and ECS had started planning for New Multan City Project under International Committee for Multan Oldest-living City Programme (ICMOCP).

He said housing schemes would be introduced for lower income group and middle class in the new city while solar energy system would be installed for it.

He said a mango festival would be organised in Multan in mid-July to increase exports and all ambassadors in Islamabad would be invited to the event.
