LONDON, April 17: Nawabzada Harbayar Marri, son of Nawab Khair Bux Marri, who was arrested in December last year has been released from Belmarsh Jail.

He was granted bail about a month ago by the Old Bailey criminal court in central London.

Faiz Baloch, who was arrested along with Harbayar, was granted bail last Friday and is now awaiting release.

The two were arrested on December 4 last year on charges of being involved in terrorist activities in Balochistan and on the suspicion of being members of the so-called Baloch Liberation Army.

Samad Baloch, a senior member of the Baloch Action Committee, told Dawn the release of Harbayar was a vindication of the position on the arrests taken by the people of Balochistan and diaspora, especially human rights activists and Baloch, Sindhi activists residing in the UK.

He thanked the World Sindhi Congress for its support and help in the campaign to raise the problems of the people of Balochistan in the UK.

At the time of the arrest of the two Baloch leaders, the British media had speculated that the arrested persons would be exchanged with Pakistan for Rashid Rauf, a British citizen and suspected terrorist wanted in the UK for being involved in the murder of his uncle.
