MIRPURKHAS, April 18: Dozens of peasants belonging to Bheel community staged a rally on Friday in protest against the kidnapping of two peasants by a landlord and his refusal to give their share in the crops.

The protesters led by Ismail Bheel and Harchand Bheel, started the march from Railway Station Chowk carrying banners and placards and terminated at the press club.

Ismail Bheel and Harchand Bheel told journalists that a few days ago the SHO of Phuladiyoon police station conducted raid on the fields of Zulfiqar Magsi in Sindhri taluka on the orders of DPO of Mirpurkhas after a written complaint by Munemo Bheel, and got 16 bonded Haris freed.

They said that the bonded haris included women and children namely Ponmoon, Hamroos, Chantoon, Alho, Parwati, Lachhmi, Dapo, Dhani, Marwai, Somji, Daji, Dani, Padman, Leela and Bhajwano.

But the landlord took away two peasant brothers Vishno and Jumo before the raid who were still not recovered, they said, adding that 300 maund wheat, 40 maund oilseed and six maund onion seed were also in the possession of the landlord and they wanted half share in the crops.

They demanded that Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gillani, IG Sindh, RPO Hyderabad range and DIG of Mirpurkhas should ensure the kidnappees were released immediately and they had their share in the crops.
