KARACHI, April 19: Noman Fazal scored 22 points as the Aga Khan University (AKU) defeated the Fast National University 119-36 in the seventh AKU Inter-university basketball tournament match at the AKU Sports Centre Gymnasium here on Friday.

The winners led the first half 62-18. Salman Gondal and Abdullah Waheed supported Noman with scores of 18 and 17 respectively.

For the Fast University, Humayun (15 points) and Yasir Khan (12 points) were the main scorers.

In another match, the Ziauddin Medical University (ZMU) beat the Jamshoro’s Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) 61-51.

At the end of first half, the ZMU was leading 32-28.

Both Tahir Ahmed and Sheharyar Ahmed scored 18 points each for the winners.

Shaz Ghori (17 points) and Wasim Khan (15 points) were the prominent scorers for the LUMHS.

The third match was played between the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) ‘A’ team. The DUHS won the match 75-35.

The winners took the lead right from the first half with 36-12 points.

Shamim Jafri with 25 points and Fahad Ahmed with 21 points played key roles in their side’s victory.

Ather Ahmed and Mir Raza tried to resist the defeat with individual scores of 17 and 10 but in vain.—PPI
