ISLAMABAD, April 21: Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Railways and Sindh moved to the next round in the 51st National Badminton Championship which started at the Rodham Hall in the federal capital on Monday.

In the singles event KPT sidelined N.W.F.P team 3-0. Asadullah Aleem (KPT) beat Masood (N.W.F.P) by 21-14, 21-16, Tariq beat AmeenulHaq by 21-11, 22-20,21-11. In the doubles event Asad & Tariq thrashed Hayatullah & Nadeem by 21-8, 21-17.

Railways defeated Balochistan 3-0 in the day’s second fixture. Waqas Zahid beat Hanain by 21-6, 21-12, Ali Murad beat Ahmed by 21-10, 21-9. In the doubles match Zohaib & Nabeel thrashed Amir & Aurangzeb by 21-8, 21-13.

In the days third competition Sindh walloped H.E.C by 3-2. Ahmed (HEC) beat Farhan (SND) by 21-9,21-16, Farhan & M. Ali (SND) beat Azmat & Asad (HEC) by 21-15,21-10.

Imran (SND) beat Shoaib (SND) by 21-15,21-12, Umer Rabbani & Ahmed (HEC) beat 21-9, 21-16, Muhammad A.U. (SND) beat Faisal (HEC) by 23-21, 21-13.

Islamabad team outplayed P.M.A.D by 3-0, AshrafMasih beat Mohammad Ali by 21-7, 21-13, Ashraf & Kashifbeat Asif & Mohammad Ali by 18-21,21-16,21-15, Irfan Rana beat Muhammad Ali Mirza by 17-21,21-14,21-15. Ahsan Qamar and Ayesha would defend their men’s and women’s singles titles respectively. Uzma and Asma Butt are women doubles defending champions.

Teams from four provinces, FATA, Azad Kashmir, Islamabad, Higher Education Commission, National Bank of Pakistan, New Khan, Pakistan Railways, PIA, Pakistan Military Accounts and Karachi Port Trust are participating in the event.
